Why Are Routine Cleanings and Exams So Important?

We’re all vulnerable to the same basic dental problems, especially tooth decay and gum disease. These problems can often be held off with brushing and flossing, but a good homecare routine alone isn't always enough to prevent them. That’s why professional cleanings and exams are essential.

At every checkup, your hygienist has a chance to help you clean hard-to-reach areas. Dr. Kovach also has an opportunity to look for developing problems. If we find anything during your visit, we can begin working with you on a treatment plan immediately. Every plan we create for our patients is personalized according to that person’s needs. If you have questions about what we recommend, Dr. Kovach or another member of our Aledo dental team will be happy to answer them for you.

Your First Visit

Are you preparing to visit ARK Family Dentistry for the first time? We look forward to welcoming you to our extended family.

When you first arrive, you’ll be welcomed by a member of our front desk team who will also take your completed new patient forms. Afterwards, you’ll be led back to one of our treatment rooms, where you’ll be introduced to your hygienist. In addition to cleaning teeth, we’ll begin getting to know you. Dr. Kovach will then introduce herself and complete a full oral exam. We take X-rays on your first visit so we have a more complete picture of your oral health needs. At the end of your appointment, we may recommend additional care if we found anything requiring treatment. Otherwise, we’ll see you again in six months.
